Exclusive to the men’s race, Lucignano d’Asso is the longest sector of the day at 11.9 km and, while not especially demanding in altitude profile, its sheer length makes it a sector where constant focus is required, as a puncture or mechanical problem in the middle of this exposed stretch could prove extremely costly and difficult to remedy.
Lucignano d’Asso is a hamlet of Montalcino in the Val d’Orcia, perched on a spur and home to the remains of a medieval castle and fortified village layout.
