STRADA DEL CASTAGNO
A transitional sector, short and not particularly demanding, tackled when the race has almost always already blown to pieces.
Completely flat, Strada del Castagno comes just under 40 km from the finish, after the riders have already negotiated the first passage over Colle Pinzuto and Le Tolfe and are heading toward the second, and those who lead through here are usually part of the select group that will make it to Siena to fight it out for victory.
