PIEVE A SALTI
Also featured only in the men’s race and positioned around 120 km from the finish, Pieve a Salti measures 8 km and includes a 2 km uphill section in its second half with gradients reaching 11%.
Coming immediately after the long Lucignano d’Asso sector, it represents a delicate moment in the race, where victory is unlikely to be secured but defeat is very possible, especially as the peloton is often still relatively numerous at this stage.
Pieve a Salti is another small rural hamlet in the Montalcino area, between Val d’Orcia and Crete Senesi, known for its Romanesque parish church and links to medieval roads.
