LE TOLFE
After Colle Pinzuto comes Le Tolfe: following an initial counter-slope section, the final 500 metres of gravel rise almost vertically, with gradients peaking at 18%, and since 2024 it has been tackled twice, at 42 km and again at 12 km from the finish.
This is a sector traditionally stormed by fans, and for good reason, as it has arguably been the most decisive stretch in the history of Strade Bianche.
Fabian Cancellara built his 2012 victory here, Michał Kwiatkowski launched his winning move just after the crest in 2014, Tiesj Benoot went clear solo after attacking on Colle Pinzuto in the mud-soaked 2018 edition, and Annemiek van Vleuten also set up her dominant rides in 2019 and 2020 precisely on the slopes of Le Tolfe.
